What is FraudSleuth?
FraudSleuth is an online tool powered by Kofile Technologies to help protect property owners against possible fraudulent activity. Similar to credit monitoring services, FraudSleuth can now automatically alert users when a document is recorded in their name.
The Clermont County Recorder’s Office has implemented FraudSleuth as a way to help protect property owners within Clermont County. Our goal was to provide citizens with an easy way to protect your investment, provide peace of mind and take a proactive step in fighting property fraud.

Frequently Asked Questions
FraudSleuth is a FREE tool powered by Kofile Technologies and provided by the Clermont County Recorder’s Office to help combat property fraud. There are no fees to use this service.
Users with an account can sign up for free alerts. Please click here to visit our search website to create a new account if you do not have one.
Once logged into your account, click the Preferences link on the Home page. Within the FraudSleuth Preferences section, click Configure FraudSleuth Profile.
- You must create a separate profile for each version of your name — first/last, first/middle/last, first/middle initial/last, etc.
- You may also want to create profiles for any nicknames or alternate spellings of your name. Profile names must be an EXACT match to the recorded document in order to receive an email alert.
- Do not use periods or commas in the names.
When you have finished creating profiles, click Save at the top right corner to save all additions/changes.
The email alert will include matched data, the document reference, document type and recording date/time of the matching document.
Alerts will be received until canceled by the user.
No, alerts would only be issued for document recordings pertaining to the Clermont County Recorder’s Office.
Yes, this can occur if another party has the same name and records a document at the Clermont County Recorder’s Office.

Note: Please be aware that there may be other property owners in Clermont County with the same name. A notification simply alerts you whenever a document is filed containing a certain name. It does not necessarily indicate that fraud has been committed.
